PRIMARY

BGB group of schools’ curriculums is poised to give a broad-based education with the scope of achieving a qualitative and quantitative understanding by the pupils of the various subjects being taught. Thus, the school ensures a detailed and proper consideration of the

State and Federal Ministry of Education’s curriculum with the British curriculum to check international status and standard.  

The curriculum is designed to achieve an adequate, detailed and effective knowledge that makes a child independent now and in the nearest future. Upon this target of independence is what the school’s curriculum is built. The curriculum is implemented through:

  • The use of modern teaching aids, sightseeing {excursions} as well as practical as the case may apply
  • Well-equipped classroom to enhance effective learning atmosphere.
  • Experienced, Trained, Spirit-filled teachers who are graduates from reputable higher institution within and outside the country.
  • Moral daily programmes and lessons that help build character, leadership and love in the way of the Lord.  

A well-structured extra curriculum programmes

Subject varies based on the directives and circular released by the Ministry of Education at both the State and Federal level. The subjects cater for the societal and development needs of every child. It is hereby classified into two and thus highlighted:

At the Nursery Level: Mathematics, English Language, Rhymes, Elementary Science, Health Education, Christian Religious Knowledge, Social Studies, Creative Arts and Handwriting.

At the Primary Level: Mathematics, English Language, Basic Science and Technology, PreVocational Studies, Religious and National Value, Yoruba, Music, French Language, Cultural and Creative Arts.

A serene, spacious, ventilated and conducive environment aid learning, hence the school facilitates these observations by operating a small class arrangement to allow each child to be given maximum individual attention. Hence the maximum number of pupils in each class is restricted to 25 in Nursery and 30 in the primary section.

BGB Nursery/ Primary school’s uniform is unique and compulsory for all pupils of the school. This with the intentions of exploring uniformity. Uniforms are to be purchased in the school. The uniform include: School Uniform itself and Socks; School Cardigans; Sport wear and Brown Sandals.

Pupils are expected to be smartly and neatly dressed in readiness for school and classes. Boys should have simple hair cut while girls can have short hair cut too or simple assigned hair plait. 

 The sport wear must be worn on Wednesdays by all children except during events that require such wear.  

Education is not only limited to the walls of the classroom, neither is it constrained to the leaflets of books. Thus the school provides an environment where pupils are able to discover, explore, promote and showcase their talents in our sporting activities, club and societies{Drama Group, Literary and Debate Club, Press Club among others springing clubs } and even academically and Knowledge oriented excursions.

The grading system in the school give room for pupils to explore their potentials, while creating a competitive atmosphere among them. The assessments is based on the Continuous Assessment Scores {C.A.S} and the result from Practical and Written examination administered at the end of each term.

The C.A.S constitutes 60% of each term total accumulative while the termly terminal examination accounts for the remaining 40%. The C.A.S consists but not limited to 1st to 3rd periodic test, as assignments. Homework, projects and even class work may be included. Thus parents are enjoyed to monitor their wards to ensure that they carry out their daily home assignment diligently.

The school opens by 7:00am each day from Monday to Friday. The closes by 4:00pm every day except Fridays when the school closes by 1:00pm. After School care lessons is also available but optional based on interest and spans from 4:20pm to 5:30 pm every day except on Fridays when it closes by 3:30pm.

Attendance of morning assembly is compulsory for all pupils, parent should kindly know this. Consistent Lateness at the opening and closing time will result in asking the child to be withdrawn from the school.

After the school closes, parents are enjoined to collect their wards by themselves or designated person by them to do so, by issuing a letter of authority with your name and signature or a prior call attesting and confirming the identity of such unknown persons. The school shall release no child to unknown persons.

Secondary school

The secondary school section presently operates at its permanent site within the Federal housing estate of Shagari village close to its primary school section. The permanent site at the secondary school section will soon be completed. The school boast of significant number of students across all classes with over 50 staff both academic and non-academic staff.

 

 

 

 

The school offers and participate in the Junior and Senior Basic Education Common Examination (BECE) organized by both the State and Federal government respectively as well as the Senior Secondary School leaving Certificate {SSCE} organized by National Examination Council {NECO} and West Africa Examination Council {WAEC}. These examinations prepare them for qualitative outing in the various admissive examinations into the tertiary institution.

While respecting the individuality of all our student’s views, the school uniform is an essential part of school life. It represents the high standards that we expect from our students. By applying a strict uniform code, we are preparing our students for life, in that most workplaces have standards with regard to dress that should be upheld. It also teaches the students the value of neatness, tidiness and projecting a good image of the school.

The support of parents/ guardians is of utmost importance in this regard and sanctions will apply where there are breaches in the uniform code. Each student is expected to wear the full school uniform every day and to be neat and tidy in their overall appearance at all time.  

In order to enhance uniformity with the standard set, the school uniform should be obtained in the school as supplied by the school.

Sports in the school

We encourage sport in our school primarily for physical activity which is recognized as a component of good health. However, there are also additional benefits such as instilling competitiveness, fair play and teamwork among students.

Students become more rounded individuals. They socialize with their peers, and it looks good on college applications. School sports bring the school spirit up. For this reason sports period is included in each student’s timetable. Many teachers volunteer also to organize extra-curricular sporting activities.

The school participates and has had considerable successes in sporting competitions both at the  local, state and national levels.
